Tourist Development Tax Grants

Tourist Development Tax Grants

Tourist Development Tax Grant programs are funded through the Tourism Development taxes, also known as the Hotel Surtax. This tax is applied to the rental fees paid by visitors for short-term accommodations such as hotel/motel rooms, condominiums, vacation homes, and rental sources. Thanks to our almost 2 million visitors a year, we can provide funds to help them drive tourism to Collier County (also known as Florida’s Paradise Coast).
Grants are available for the following areas:
  • Beach Renourishment Projects
  • Beach Park Facilities
  • Sports
  • Arts and Culture
        Non-County Museums
        Marketing Grants
Arts & Culture grants

According to the 2023 Arts and Economic Prosperity Study completed by Americans for the Arts, over 9,200 jobs are in the cultural sector in Collier County. Part of that sector, the nonprofit arts and culture industry, has almost 2,000 jobs and an economic impact of $147.1 million.

The Tourism Development Tax Grant program provides opportunities in two program areas for organizations to complete grant applications. The grant categories follow Florida Statute 125.0104 section 5.a.1.c and include these two types:

  • "C-2" Non-County Owned and Operated Museums

  • "B" Marketing Grants.

The definition of the two types are as follows:

·     Non-County Museum Grants are for nonprofit institutions that “care for and display a collation of artifacts or other objects of artistic, cultural, historical or scientific importance and exhibits the heritage of humanity and its environment.”

·     Marketing Grants are open to any type of organization for marketing support for festivals, events, or other cultural activities. The activity must be non-sports related as those types of activities fall under our Sports Grants program.

If your organization has not participated in the past two or three years, please contact John Melleky, Arts and Culture Manager, who can assist you with determining which grant category your organization would apply to, and to be added to the distribution list as the timeline is finalized.

All organizations that fit into the Non-County Museum category will receive an invitation code for the application.

Grants provide reimbursable funding for promotional campaigns and activities promoting Collier County tourism.

Applications are solicited once a year for the next Collier County fiscal year. Those applications are then funded for a grant during the next fiscal year (October 1 – September 30).

The Grant cycle for FY2025-2026 will open on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at NOON and close on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 9:00 AM.

More information on the Grants and eligibility of organizations that satisfy the definition of Museum is provided in the Grant System Portal below.
