CMON Launches Parent Cafe a Supportive Space for Parents!
NAPLES, FL — October 24, 2024 — Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples (CMON) is bringing a supportive space to the community by launching a new program, Parent Cafe. This once-per-month gathering at CMON is designed to support parents’ mental health and well-being throughout the community. This initiative comes at a crucial time when the U.S. Surgeon General has emphasized the importance of parental mental health, highlighting the need for resources and community support in navigating the challenges of parenting.
In a recent advisory, the Surgeon General pointed out the significant stress parents face, which can impact not only their well-being but also the development of their children. (Full article here.) The museum aims to create a safe, welcoming space where parents can come together to share their experiences, find encouragement, and genuinely support one another.
Join Us for Connection and Community!
Starting this month, the Parent Cafe will take place every third Tuesday of the month at CMON. Each session will feature discussions on relevant topics and the opportunity to connect with other parents facing similar challenges. This vibrant community space will encourage open conversations about mental health, self-care strategies, and practical parenting tips.
“Many staff members at the museum are parents and we understand that parenting can sometimes feel overwhelming and that you may need support,” said Bonnie Thayer, Chief Operations & Education Officer at CMON. “Our Parent Cafe will provide a nurturing environment where parents can come together, share stories, and discover resources that empower them and enhance their well-being.”

About the Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples
The Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples is a brain-building powerhouse and Southwest Florida’s first museum devoted for children and families to learn through play. With hands-on exhibit galleries, the accessible museum invites visitors of all ages to journey through the swamps of the Everglades, weave through a maze, climb a two-story banyan tree, or experiment with the water play station. Children can become a weather forecaster, a farmer, a chef, a fisherman, an artist, an architect, or a veterinarian; explore the cold of an igloo, the whoosh of the wind, the sound of the sea, and the effects of gravity. Throughout the day special activities encourage our guests to get involved, try something new and be energized. CMON offers a variety of interactive exhibits providing kids with education, play, learning, science, technology, engineering, inventions, space exploration, art, math, storybooks, creation, building, sensory, and child development.
